Jealousy

Merry Christmas family, from all of us (lol, don’t be surprised I don’t do this alone) at MisterJacque.com, we’re grateful for your visits, comments, shares, etc.

On this beautiful Christmas morning my gift to you is a blog post on an emotion i battled with, and conquered in the year under review, 2017. Yet not I, but God at work in me. I hope you love it, and learn a thing or two

We can’t deny having this feeling at some point in our lives; When the childhood friend sends the wedding card and you remember that you’ve not been able to stay in a relationship for more than a month, when the guy you thought you were smarter than in high school graduates with a first class and you’re having a terrible semester, When the colleague with less (or even equal) qualification gets the promotion you’ve desired all along, When the homeboy gets the girl you all were crushing on, When the young pastor down the road who doesn’t have half your experience has a ‘seemingly’ larger congregation or more money, or more ‘annointing’. If we’re true to ourselves everyone battles one form of jealousy or another at some point or the other.

Jealousy is human
Jealousy is being envious of someone who has something we would love to have but do not have. Jealousy is not always wrong, its the proper response of a husband or wife whose trust has been violated through infidelity (or some other way), it is also the way God feels when humans made for his pleasure turn away from him in worship of other gods, I’ll like to refer to this kind of jealousy as ‘good jealousy’. On the other hand, jealousy can be quite the opposite and this ‘bad jealousy’ is the focus of this discussion. It has broken friendships, made some turn in resignation letters, others have taken their own lives.

It is proof that you’re not minding your business
Jealousy sometimes suggests that you’re “not in your lane”, Most people in their lanes are quite preoccupied with their goals, visions, plans, and strategies to be bothered about someone else’s progress, and even if they do, they’re gladly anticipating their own success so they have no problem with being happy for and with someone else.

You too are a subject of jealousy
Chances are there are a thousand and one people who would kill to have your life right now, I’m a firm believer that as long as you’re alive you’re a candidate of jealousy, just as you won’t have others acting on their feelings of jealousy towards you, your possessions and your achievements, we should also master jealousy, and rule over it every single time it rears its ugly head.

Be grateful, Count your blessings
Jealousy is birthed from discontent with one’s possessions or quality of life, strike a balance between your ambition and contentment. Aim for the stars, and even if you land on the moon, at least you’re in outer space it’ll be much easier to try again from there. You might not be where you think you should be, but just turn back and take a look at how you’ve come.

Your time will come
I’m a strong believer in ‘time and chance happening to them all’. Maybe, just maybe you weren’t as prepared as when the promotion skipped you, or maybe God has an even better plan. Whichever way you see it God has a plan with your name written on it, just keep rehearsing, when you’re prepared enough your stage lights will come on.

Jealousy is dangerous
Jealousy isn’t good fuel, it might drive you to your destination but it’ll damage your engine, so what was supposed to bring satisfaction leaves you feeling worse off than you were before acquiring it. At some points in our life, we might find ourselves furthering our education, buying a car, or marrying the spouse out of jealousy, only to discover afterward that it wasn’t what we wanted in the first place. So what we thought would bring us happiness and fulfillment leaves us miserable, plunging us further into discontent and unfulfillment.

In all, my submission is; gain mastery of Jealousy (and every other not so good emotion), know the situations that leave you jealous, strive to avoid them. With each victory in the battles we’ll eventually win the war; be its master and make sure it isn’t the other way around. You’ll be better off for it.Don’t forget to comment your experiences with jealousy and follow our page for updates on future blog posts..
