Dear Men,

Reckon all you have as God’s.

As a living being, and even more so as a human being, it is difficult to look at the complexity of our existence and conclude that it is all coincidence.

You look designed. Everything I have observed in nature points to the work of a Master Designer. And once you acknowledge a Designer, another question becomes unavoidable: Why was it designed?

No intelligent designer creates a product without purpose. And certainly, God did not create us merely to accumulate things for ourselves.

Before we even understand the specific ways God intends to deploy our lives, gifts and resources in His mission, we cannot go wrong adopting one simple posture: Everything we have belongs to Him and should serve His purposes.

Your handsomeness and height, education and eloquence, Command of English, connections and competence. Your money, influence and opportunities. None of these are merely yours.

They are resources entrusted to you, and perhaps this is one of the most important shifts a man can make: moving from ownership to stewardship.

The question is no longer, “What can I do with what I have?” It becomes, “What does God want done with what He has put in my hands?”

Because one day, the things we call ours will outlive us—or we will leave them behind.

But while they are in our hands, may we have the wisdom to use them for the One to whom they have always belonged. One of the greatest kings and psalmist of all times is quoted to have said. “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it.”
