Don’t glory in burnouts. Learn to rest.

Some men wear exhaustion like a medal; sleepless nights, endless shifts, skipped meals, and bodies stretched beyond healthy limits, as though destruction were proof of strength.

It is not.

Traditional masculinity has long glorified relentless labour, teaching men that worth is measured by how much pain they can endure before breaking. But a machine pushed beyond its limits without maintenance will eventually fail, regardless of how powerful it once was.

Strength is not the absence of rest; it is knowing when restoration is necessary.

Even the finest engines are serviced. Soldiers rotate off battlefields. Even the earth pauses for seasons of rest.

Yet many men treat rest like weakness until fatigue begins to affect their health, judgment, patience, relationships, and work. Responsibility does not only mean providing. It also means preserving the man who provides. Rest is not laziness, it is maintenance.

So, Sleep well.

Take your leave days, laugh with your family, eat properly, recover before damage becomes permanent.

A burnt-out man cannot lead effectively for long; the goal was never to die proving you worked hard, but to remain strong enough to continue building, leading, protecting, and living with clarity for years to come.

Protect the engine that carries the burden.

A wise man learns to rest before collapse forces him to. I’ll write you next week.

Think on these things, and share with a brother, especially one who needs rest.
